Lapel - Services for Earle Monroe Myers, 70 who died late Saturday in Riverview Hospital, Noblesville, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Fisher Brothers Funeral Home here by President J. A. Morrison of Anderson College and the Rev. Garfield Steedman of the Lapel Methodist Church. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel. He was a member of the Indiana House of Representatives from Fountain County, in which county he was born at Wallace on Jan. 21, 1887. He moved to Madison County in 1933 and lived on a farm four miles southwest of Lapel on Ind. 132. He was prominent in Anderson and Indianapolis fraternal circles. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and Kiwanis Club here and of the Masonic Scottish Rite and Order of the Mystic Shrine at Indianapolis. He was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge at Wallace. Willis Simmermon of Anderson is a brother-in-law of Mr. Myers. Other survivors include: the widow, Margaret; two sons, Richard of Veedersburg and Marion of Rte. 1, Pendleton; one daughter, Mrs. Margery Woodward of Rte. 1, Pendleton, and five grandchildren.

Mr. Earl M. Myers of Lapel, Ind, a former Fountain County resident and father of Richard Myers of Veedersburg died last Friday at the Riverview Hospital at Noblesville following a long illness. Mr. Myers, a resident of the Wallace area for many years had been a resident of Lapel for the past 24 years.  He was a retired farmer. Active in many affairs he was County Chairman of the WWII Bond Drive, a member of the Anderson Kiwanis, the Elks and Masonic and Scottish Rite orders. He was married to Margaret Simmerman, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Richard of Veedersburg; Marion of Pendleton and Mrs. Margery Woodward also of Pendleton. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at Fisher Bros Funeral Home in Lapel. – kbz
