MYERS, Christena Sowers - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Mrs. Christina Sowers Myers, 90 years old, d. Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Myers, NW of Waveland. Mrs. Myers had been in failing health for about 3 months and her death was due to infirmities of age. She was the widow of the late Elijah Myers, a life long resident of near Wallace. Deceased was the daughter of Michael & Christina Sowers and was born March 14, 1830 in Davidson Co, NC. She moved from that state with the family in 1839 and settled on a farm 3 mi SW of Wallace. She was reared in that community and lived there her entire life. She was united in marriage to Elijah Myers in 1849 and to this union 4 children were born. Elizabeth Myers, Mrs. Thomas Allen, Lorenza Myers and Mrs. Phoebe Newlin, the latter having died a number of years ago. She is survived by 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. Mrs. Myers was a Lutheran from infancy in NC and became a member of what is known as the Myers Lutheran Church in Indiana and was a member until she died. The funeral was held at the Myers Lutheran Church at 11 o'clock Thursday in charge of Rev. Isiaiah Whitman of Versailles, Ohio, a former pastor of the Church.
