Murphy, 94, a long-time resident of West Lebanon, died at Country Care Nursing
Center, Williamsport, at 6:32 a.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2000. Born near
West Lebanon on March 29, 1906, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nancy
Ellen (Fulton) Ricketts. She had lived in Warren County all of her life and
mostly in the West Lebanon community. Her marriage was to Earl Herbert Murphy
on July 5, 1924 in Covington. He was an employee of Harrison Steel Castings
Company and preceded her in death on November 6, 1970. Mrs. Murphy was a
homemaker and also a cook at the cafeteria in West Lebanon schools for several
years. She attended the old Methodist Church in West Lebanon. Mrs. Murphy loved
to play cards and enjoyed her association with the Williamsport and Covington
senior centers. Surviving, are; one daughter, Lois Benedict of West Lebanon;
two grandchildren, Ronald (Christy) Hay of West Lebanon and Rolla Nicholas
Benedict of Veedersburg; two great-grandchildren, Douglas E. Lancaster, Jr. of
Indianapolis and Joshua D. Lancaster of Terre Haute; one sister, Ruth Ware of
rural Kramer. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Graveside services will be held at West Lebanon Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Friday,
September 29th with Rev. Grover Williams officiating. Memorial donations may be
made to Country Care Nursing Center, Williamsport. Fisher Funeral Homes, Inc.
in charge of arrangements. – jlr
