VEEDERSBURG — Vivnia R. Mullen, 80, a resident of Covington Manor Nursing Center and formerly of Veedersburg, died at 3:55 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2000 in Provena USMC Logan Campus, Danville, Ill. She was born Feb. 18, 1920 in Fountain County, the daughter of Dempsey and Bessie Payton Carr. She married Carl Mullen July 30, 1966 in Covington. He preceded in death in 1989. Her first marriage was to Leslie Day, who preceded in death. She was a member of the New Century Church near Veedersburg, the Covington Senior Citizens, and the BWI Horizons Club. Her hobbies included gardening, playing cards, bingo and fishing She worked as a store clerk in Covington and Veedersburg and retired from the IGA store in Attica in 1978. Survivors include: a daughter, Zelma Lewin, Maryland; a son, Dwayne Day, Maryland; two step sons, Thomas J. Mullen and Carl R. Mullen, both of Lafayette; a brother, Leroy (Bob) Carr, Bloomingdale; a sister, Susie Lindquist, Veedersburg; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marcia Newnum; six brothers; a sister and two grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday in Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg, with the Rev. Richard Throckmorton officiating. Burial was in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. – jlr

Vivnia R. Mullen, 80, a Covington Manor Nursing Home resident and formerly of Veedersburg died 3:55 p.m. Thursday in Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, Lagan Campus, Danville, Ill.  Mrs. Mullen was a store clerk at Covington and Veedersburg and retired from the IGA store at Attica in 1978.  Her memberships included the New Century Church near Veedersburg, Covington-Senior Citizens and BWI Horizons Club. She was born Feb 18, 1920 in Fountain County to Dempsey and Bessie Payton Car. She was first married to Leslie Day. He is deceased. She then married Carl Mullen July 30, 1966 at Covington. He died in 1989. Surviving are a daughter, Zelma Lewis, Maryland; a son, Dwayne Day, Maryland; two stepsons, Thomas J. Mullen and Carl R. Mullen, both of Lafayette; a brother, Leroy “Bob” Carr, Bloomingdale; a sister, Susie Lindquist, Veedersburg; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.  A daughter, Marcia Newnum, six brothers, a sister and two grandchildren are deceased. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday in Dickerson Funeral Home, 303 N. Main St, Veedersburg with Rev. Richard Throckmorton officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
