Veedersburg - Carl J. "Mutt" Mullen, 76 of Veedersburg died at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Veterans Hospital at Danville, Ill.  He served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater and worked as an electrical helper at VA at Danville.  His memberships included New Century Church and American Legion Post 288, both of Veedersburg; Veterans of Foreign Wars at Covington; Low 12 clubs of Wallace and Parke County; and Veedersburg Masonic Lodge.  

He was born Dec 24, 1912 at Veedersburg to Luther and Kate Songer Mullen.  He married Vivnia Day on July 30, 1966.  She survives.  Also surviving are two sons, Tom and Dick of Lafayette; two stepdaughters, Zelma Lewin of Hollywood, Md; and Marcia Day of Clinton; a stepson, Dwayne Day of Hollywood, Md; two sisters, Unity Lightle and Helen Janeway both of Veedersburg; a brother, Gordon of Lansing, Ill and four grandchildren.  A sister and a brother preceded him in death.  Services are set for 2 p.m. Friday in DIckerson Funeral Home at Veedersburg with Rev. RIchard Throckmorton officiating.  Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery with military graveside rites by the American Legion at Veedersburg. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home where masonic memorial services will be conducted at 8.
