Mrs. Dessie May Mortimore, 89, of 1210 South 26th St., South Bend, died at 5:35 p.m. Monday at the Ridgedale Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Born March 20, 1886 in Andalusia, Ill., she had lived in South Bend 15 years, coming from Attica, Ind.
As Dessie Fewry, she was married December 7, 1912, in Covington to James H. Mortimore who died in 1932.
Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Peter R. Downs of South Bend; one foster daughter, Mrs. Ethel Heierman of Garland, Texas; two grandsons and three great grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Wednesday at the Hollis-Palmer Funeral Home at 2528 Mishawaka Ave. in South Bend, where services will be 2 p.m. Thursday. Rev. Carl Lemna, Pastor of the River Park United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park
Cemetery in South Bend.
