A 12-year-old boy, Thomas Oliver Moorhous was fatally injured when the motor scotter he was riding was struck by an auto on the Foster Road west of Covington about 5:40 p.m. Friday. Thomas was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Moorhous of Covington Rt 2 and was a student at Covington Junior High School. He died in an ambulance enroute to Lake View Hospital in Danville where he was pronounced dead. The auto was driven by James G. Green of Williamsport Rt 2. According to Dr. James Crain of Williamsport Warren County Coroner both the motor scooter and auto were travelling north of Foster Road, a black-top highway. The motorist it is reported was blinded by the lights of an approaching car and did not see the youth but felt the impact of the car striking the scooter and stopped finding the boy by the roadside. It was reported that the scooter was without lights. The boy was born in Danville on Dec 9, 1945 son of Thomas and Roberta Moudy Moorhous. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Joyce Lewsader of Covington and Patricia Ann at home; the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Iva Moudy of Covington and the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Moorhous, Sr of Danville. Services were held Monday at Benson Chapel Church with the Rev. Edward Vaught officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery. - kbz
