MONTAGUE, Phillip J.

Perrysville -- Phillip J. Montague, 58, of Perrysville, died at 5:30 p.m. Monday in his home. He had been in ill health for several months. Mr. Montague had been employed as a welder for 28 years by Harrison Steele Casting Co of Attica. He was a life resident of Perrysville, served with the Army in Africa and Europe during WWII and received a Purple Heart. He was a member of Walter Hoyt Post 350, American Legion and serving was commander at the time of his death. He had also served as adjutant for 10 years. Born July 10 1917 at Cairo, Michigan he was a son of Charles and Florence Cox Montague. He was married to Avis Crowder Oct 3, 1945. She survives. ALso surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Jacqueline) Bowman of Perrysville; a son, Michael Joe of Perrysville; a brother, Lewis of Perrysville; a sister, Sar4a Belle Conrad of Berries Springs, Mich; an aunt, two uncles and several nieces and nephews. His parents and a brother are deceased. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with the Rev. Dale Cadman officiating. Burial will be in Hicks Cemetery, Perrysville. There will be military graveside rites. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
