James Gordon Moffett, 80 resident of Covington for the past 17 years, died Wednesday night, Jan 30, 1963 at St. Elizabety Hosp. He had been ill 4 days and a patient 9 hours. Mr. Moffett, a retired farmer previously lived in Scott Priarie neighborhood near Covington. He was a past school teacher and was a trustee of Jackson Township school. He was born December 7, 1882 theson of James Glover and Alice Dice Moffet. He was married September 28, 1904 to Rose Lindley. Mr. Moffett belonged to the First Church of Christ and was an elder in the Scott's Prairie Christian Church. He was e member of the Wallace Masonic Lodge of which he was a pastmaster, and a member of the Low 12 Club. Surviving are his wife; a son, Donald, a sister, Mrs. Ethel Maris and two grandcildren. Three brothers preceded him in death. Services were held at the Hegg Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. John Servies officiated assisted by the Rev. Roger Jones. Burial in Rockfield Cem.

Mr. Moffett, a retired farmer, previously lived in Scott Prairie neighborhood near Covington. He was a past school teacher and was a trustee of Jackson Township School.
He was born Dec. 7, 1882, the son of James Glover and Alice Dice Moffett. He was married Sept. 28, 1904 to Rose Lindley.
Mr. Moffett belonged to the First Church of Christ and was an elder in the Scott's Prairie Christian church. He was a member of the Wallace Masonic Lodge, of which he was a past master, and a member of the Low 12 Club.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Donald of Veedersburg Rural Route; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Maris of Kingman, and two grandchildren.
Three brothers preceded him in death.
Services were held at the Hegg Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. John Servies officiated assisted by the Rev. Roger Jones. Burial was in the Rockfield Cemetery. - jz
