MOFFETT, Eliza Poole - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Mrs. Eliza J. Moffett, one of the most highly respected women in this community passed away this morning at 2:30 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. C. Hessler, 510 S. Walnut St, after an illness of two years. She was 78 years old. Her husband, Thomas Moffett, preceded her in death 19 years ago. Mrs. M. was the first matron of Athens Chapter of Eastern Star in this city and held a state office in the order for several years. She had been affiliated with the Christian Church in this city longer than any other member. Besides her daughter she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary E. May of this city. Funeral services will be held at the home Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with interment at Oak Hill. Friends are requested not to send flowers. -- kbz
