ATTICA, Ind. (CNS)Mrs. Mildred Faye Thayer Mitton, 65, of 416 West, Attica, died at 12:45 p.m. yesterday (March 9, 1970) at her home. Born July 2, 1904, at New Richmond, Ind., she was the daughter of Firman and Alta Fruits Cochall. She was a resident of the Attica community most of her life. She was married in 1920 to Fred Thayer, who died in 1960. She later married Myrl Mitton in 1961 and he died in October of 1964. Mrs. Mitton was a member of the Attica Free Methodist Church. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Crain, Mrs. Bernard Van Hyfte and Mrs. Erma Oland, all of Attica, and Mrs. Violet Ice of Memphis, Tenn.; a son, Fred Thayer Jr. of Indianapolis; a step son, Lawrence Ray Mitton of Cortland, N.Y.; a sister, Ruth Cochall of Covington; five brothers, Fred of Peoria, Russell of Danville, Donald of Ambia, Jim and Glen, both of Attica; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, James. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. EST Thursday at the Free Methodist Church. The Rev. Darold Hill will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. The body is at the DeSutter Funeral Home. Friends will be received after 6 p.m. Wednesday. The body will be taken to the church an hour before services.   – jlr

ATTICA -- Mildred Faye (Thayer) Mitton, 65, of 416 West St., Attica, died at her residence 12:45 p.m. Monday.  Death was sudden from an apparent heart attack.

She was born in New Richmond on July 2, 1904, the daughter of Firman and Alta Fruits Kochell,  She was a former resident of Warren County, moving to Attica in 1936,  She was married in 1920 to Fred Thayer, Sr., who preceded her in death in May, 1960.  She later married Myrl Mitton in 1961 and he preceded hwe in death in October, 1964.  She was a member of the Freed Methodist Church.

Surviving are four daughter, Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) Crane; Mrs. Bernard (Okah) VanHytte; Mrs.Leroy (Erma) Oland, all of Attica; Mrs. Charles (Violet) Ice, Memphis, Tenn.; one son, Fred Thayer Jr., Indianapolis; one step-son, Lawrence Ray Mitton, Cortland, N.Y. One son, James, preceded her in death in 1966.  Also surviving are on sister, Ruth Kochell, Covington; five brothers, Fred Kochell, Peoria, Ill., Russell Kochell, Danville, Ill., Donald Kochell, Ambia, Jim Kochell and Glen Kochell, both of Attica.  Nineteen grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren also survive.

Friends will be received after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the DeSutter Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Free Methodist Church, with Rev. Darold Hill officiating.  The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Funeral services for Mildred (Thayer) Mitton, 65, of 416 West St., Attica, who died at her home in Attica 12:45 p.m. Monday were held at the Free Methodist Church on Thursday, 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Darold Hill Officiating.  Interment was in Riverside Cemetery with DeSutter Funeral Home in charge.

Serviving as pallbearers were Joe Bill Harrison, Charles VanHyfte, Mike VanHyfte, James Van Hyfte, Richard Crane, Robert Oland and Daniel Thayer.
