VEEDERSBURG — Marvin Dean Mitton, 67, Veedersburg, died at 4 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2000 (estimated), while on vacation in Toremolinos, Spain. He was born June 17, 1932 in Fountain County, the son of James Walter and Hazel Perry Mitton. He married Betty Clift Feb. 8, 1957 in Veedersburg, who survives. He was a member of the New Liberty Church near Veedersburg. He was a gunsmith for 18 years and retired from Flexel in 1995. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed woodworking and traveling and loved visiting with his children and grandchildren. Survivors, besides the wife, include: a daughter, Pamela (Jeff) Hippler, West Virginia; two sons, Dennis Mitton, Monticello; Darren Mitton, Terre Haute; a sister, Evelyn (Oral) Gayler, Williamsport; four brothers, Everett (Lillian) Mitton, Los Angeles, Calif., Bill (Lois) Mitton, Waynetown; James (Dorothy) Mitton, Veedersburg, Don Mitton, Bell, Fla.; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) in Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg, with the Rev. Richard Throckmorton officiating. Burial will be in Rockfield Cemetery, Veedersburg. Preferred memorials to the New Liberty Church. – jlr
