COVINGTON — Myrtle Alice Mitchell, 85, Covington, died at 4 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 2000 in The Waters (formerly Covington Manor). She was born May 31, 1915 in Ripley, Miss., the daughter of Howard Neil and Alma Sarah Robins Taylor. She married Daniel Laurence Mitchell July 6, 1943. He preceded in death in 1966. She had been a resident of The Water of Covington (formerly Covington Manor) since January 1998 and a former resident of Perrysville. She was a cook at the former Redwood Inn in Danville, Ill. for eight years. Survivors include: a son, James (Debbie) Mithcell, Ridge Farm, Ill.; a daughter, Dorothy (Norman, Jr.) Skinner, Perrysville; two brothers Cletus Taylor and Gerald (Norma) Taylor, both of Ripley, Miss.; three sisters, Annie Reeves, Collierville, Tenn., Inez (Dabney) Box, Blue Mountain, Miss. and Jeannette Hipsherman, Ripley, Miss.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Hicks Cmeetery, Perrysville. Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, was in charge of arrangements. – jlr
