CATES --- A former resident of Cates and Covington, Louis Edward Mitchell, age 40, of 312 W. 10th St., Georgetown, Ill., died at 9:30 p. m. Friday, Dec. 3, in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Indianapolis. He had been in ill health two months. Mr. Mitchell was born June 9, 1925, in Cates, the son of Floyd E. and Lucy V. McClain Mitchell. He was married April 22, 1950 to Phyllis Louise Colestock, who survives. He and his family had lived in Georgetown for seven years, prior to which he had lived in Cates and Covington. He was a member of the Modern Woodman Lodge of Cates and Local 579, United Auto Workers of Danville. He was employed at Central Foundry as a lift operator for 15 years. He served with the U. S. Marines during World War II, from June 1943 to September 1945. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. The Rev. George Phelps of Grape Creek officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. --typed by Walt W
