Veedersburg - Forrest Richard Mitchell, 69 736 E.State St, Veedersburg died at 11:45 p.m. July 14, 1998 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. Born Dec 4, 1928 in Veedersburg, he was the son of Forrest Isom and Helen Gladys (Keeling) Mitchell. He was formerly married to Eleanor Lee Minnick 23 years. He was a life resident of Veedersburg and an Army vet. He retired in 1993 after working more than 50 years in their family owned asphalt paving business, FI Mitchell Construction. He was a member of the Charles Forrest Post 288 American Legion and Union of Operating Engineers 841 for 45 years. Surviviors include sons Mark (Sue) Mitchell, Covington, Tracy Mitchell, Veedersburg; daughters Teres (Robert) Wall, Beech Grove; Hope (Tony) Smith, Linden; sister, Doris (Donald) Olson, Veedersburg; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Doral. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Parham-Shelby Funeral Home, Veedersburg with Rusty Anderson officiating. Burial in Bonebrake Cem, Veedersburg. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. tonight Friday.
