VEEDERSBURG, Ind. (CNS) -- Leighton Minnick, 81, of 1 N. State, Danville, Ill., died at 9 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 30, 1971) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville. He had entered the hospital a few hours earlier. He had been ill six months and seriously ill since September. Born July 23, 1890, at Veedersburg, he was the son of Franklin and Mary Ray Minnick. He resided in the Veedersburg area until moving to Danville three years ago. He married Jessie Cook Cecil of Danville on Jan. 11, 1969. He was retired fieldman for the Fountain County Farm Bureau Co-op for 33 years. Previously he had been employed by two milk companies in the Veedersburg area. He was an auctioneer for 40 years. He was a member of the Veedersburg United Methodist Church and the Fountain County Farm Bureau. Survivors include a stepson, William Walter of Indianapolis; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Carl (Maxine) Lutz of San Diego, Calif.; a brother, Lowell of Covington; and a sister, Mrs. J. Lee Foster of Attica. He was preceded in death by two wives. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. EST Friday at the Parham Funeral Home in Veedersburg, with the Rev. Alfred Dobbs officiating. Burial will be in Rockfield Cemetery at Veedersburg. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 6:30 p.m. Thursday. --typed by Walt W

Leighton Minnick, 81, retired field man for the Fountain County Farm Bureau Co-op and auctioneer for 40 years, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1971, in St. Elizabeth hospital at Danville, Ill. He had been a patient here for only a few hours. Mr. Minnick had been in ill health since September and in a serious condition since September. He had been employed with the Farm Bureau for 33 years and prior to that had been a field man for two milk companies in the Veedersburg area. He was a member of the Veedersburg United Methodist Church and Fountain County Farm Bureau. Mr. Minnick was born July 23, 1890, on a farm west of Veedersburg. He was the oldest son of Franklin and Mary Ray Minnick and had lived in the Veedersburg community all his life until three years ago when he moved to Danville, Ill., where he resided at No. 1 North State St. He married Jessie Cook Cecil on Jan. 11, 1969. She survives. Other survivors include two step-children, Mrs. Carl (Maxine) Lutz of San Diego, Calif., and William Walter of Indianapolis; one sister, Mrs. J. Lee Foster of Attica, and one brother Lowell Minnick of Covington. He was preceded in death by two wives. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday at Parham Funeral Home Veedersburg. Rev.
