MINNICK, Dowe Smith - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Dowe Smith MINNICK, 71 of Attica former farmer of the Newtown area died at 6 a.m. Thursday Jan 24, 1957 in St. Eizabeth Hospital in Lafayette  He was admitted to the hospital last Friday and underwent surgery this week.  Born Dec 8, 1885 near Newtown, he was a son of Elijah and Hannah maria Smith Minnick. He was married April 26 1917 to Blanche McConahay who survives.  He attended Western Township schools and was graduated from Purdue University in 1906.  He was a life member of the Union Christian Church and a charter member of the Newtown Band.  He moved to Attica from his farm near Newtown in 1929 and was an active member of the Attica Methodist Church Choir. Surviving besides the wife are a son, Daniel Dowe; three daughters, Mrs. Marianne Galloway of Shelbyville, Ind; Mrs. Betty Kathryn Siegrist of Van Nuys, NY and Mrs. Dorothy Chrysler Gullatt of Ithaca, NY; a brother Glenn of Veedersburg and six grandchildren. Services were held at the Roemer Funeral Home Saturday with Hugh Miller officiating.  Burial was in Union Church Cemetery. – kbz
