"Arch Minnick, age 73, a life resident of the Veedersburg community, died at 2:30 a. m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at his home near Stone Bluff. He had been in failing health three years and seriously ill six weeks. Born Sept. 22, 1888, near Stone Bluff, he was the son of Fletcher and Sarah Simmerman Minnick. He was married Aug. 28, 1909, to Goldie Drollinger, who survives. A farmer and construction worker, he had retired several years ago. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Walter of Fairmount, Angus of Stone Bluff, Dewey of Lebanon and Simon of Wingate; three daughters, Mrs. Audrey Lowery, Mrs. Fern Carthers and Mrs. Ethel Overpeck, all of Veedersburg; three sisters, Mrs. Prudent Hoagland of Stone Bluff, Mrs. Gertrude Solomon of Riverside and Mrs. Hazel Posers of Reno, Calif.; 26 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and three step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Thursday at the Sterling Church of God. The Rev. Jack Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Osborne Prairie Cemetery. The J. Fred Parham Funeral Home of Veedersburg is in charge. Archie Fletcher Minick, one of eleven children, five brothers and five sisters, was born Sept. 22, 1888 to Samuel F. and Sarah A. Simmerman Minick, where Ralph Clawson now lives. He was a descendant of the eighth generation of Abraham Tappan, who came from Yarmouth, England on a ship, The Mary Ann. They settled in Newburg, Mass., October 16, 1637.
"Arch", as he was affectionately called, loved the out of door life, hunting, fishing, and working. His work was farming, but on the most part, construction work for various firms. The last construction was the Annex Addition to his Church, he supervised, loved and faithfully labored that it might be a light to fellow travelers. Archie was a faithful attendant here and he knew his God.
August 28, 1909, he was married to Goldie A. Drollinger, and to this union were born four sons and three daughters. These parents with family and friends celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1959.
Twenty eight years ago Archie and his wife came to what is now called the Minick home, in Stone Bluff, to care for his Father and Mother. With loving care and constant devotion they attended them throughout the declining years.
After their deaths, Archie and Goldie remained on to establish the home for their family.
Arch was 73 years, 3 months and 25 days old when came January 16, 1962 at 2:30 a.m. After three years of failing health and six weeks and three days of serious illness. The family, with tender love, cared for him 24 hours a day taking all night turns.
Surviving besides his wife and 4 sons, Walter of Fairmount, Ill., Angus of Stone Bluff, Ind., Dewey of Lebanon, Ind., and Simon of Wingate, Ind., 3 daughters, Audry Lowery, Fern Carithers, and Ethel Overpeck, all of Veedersburg, Ind.; 3 sisters, Prudence E. Hoagland of Stone Bluff, Ind., Hazel Powers of Rodeo, Calif., and Gertie Solomon of Riverside, Ind.; 26 grand-
children, 17 great grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren, along with other relatives and many many friends. - jz
