Kingman—Lana E. Miller, 96, Route 1, Kingman, died about 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 1989 at her home, where she had lived for more than 70 years.
She was born June 13, 1892 in Parke County, the daughter of William C. and Margaret Ann Payton Banta. She was married March 14, 1912 to Robert L. Miller, who survives. They had just celebrated 77 years of marriage last Tuesday. He is a resident of Covington Manor Health Care Center.
She was a graduate of Waveland High School and had attended Indiana University. She taught school three years prior to her marriage.
She was a member of the Kingman United Methodist Church, a charter member of Wallace Chapter OES 415 since 1917 and past matron of Fountain Chapter OES 204, a charter member of Past Matrons and Past Patrons Club and a charter member of Pythian Sisters. She was a member of Kingman woman’s Club, North Millcreek Home extension Club, Waveland Alumni Association and the Cabalistic Club of Wallace.
Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Hiram (Margaret) Lindley, rural Kingman; a granddaughter, Mrs. David (Patti) Curts, Lafayette, and a great grandson, Mark Curts, Lafayette. She was preceded in death by two sisters.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Woodrow Funeral Home, Kingman, with Kenneth Majors officiating. Burial was in Kingman Fraternal Cemetery.
