COVINGTON—Wayne L. Miller, 54 year-old automobile dealer and prominent businessman of Covington died at 7:20 p. m. Thursday in the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville. He was hospitalized there after a heart attack April 29. He was a member of the Yeddo Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite of Indianapolis, Elk Lodge of Danville, Tidal Lodge No. 36 and K. of P. in Covington. Mr. Miller started in the automobile business in 1929 in Kentland. He moved his business to Kingman in 1934 and to Covington in 1938. Born Feb. 2, 1904 in Silverwood to William L. and Carolyn Lewis Miller, he was married Sept. 8, 1929 to Ruby Smith. Surviving are the widow; three sisters, Mrs. Madge Irwin of Attica, Mrs. Gladys Huestis of Youngstown, Ohio, and Mrs. Ruth Duff of Los Angeles; a brother, J. Lee Miller of Mellott and several nieces and nephews, including Charles Kay of Covington. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. Glenn Ray officiating, assisted by Rev. G. Elwood Anderson. Burial will be in the Mt. Wayne Lewis Miller, 54, well known Covington auto dealer, succumbed unexpectedly Thursday at 7:20 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill where he had been a patient since April 29 the victim of a heart attack. Mr. Miller, who operated the Chevrolet and Buick dealership in Covington since 1939 entered the retail auto business in 1929 at Kentland where he had the Chevrolet franchise. In 1934, the Millers moved to Kingman where he operated the Chevrolet Agency there and added the Buick dealership to his business in 1936. He was active in community and civic affairs. Mr. Miller was a prominent member of several organizations among which were the Yeddo Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite at Indianapolis, Elks Club at Danville, Ill and Tidal Lodge No 38 K of P at Covington. He was born Feb 2, 1904 at Silverwood, the son of William L. and Carolyn Lewis Miller. On Sept 8, 1929 he married Miss Ruby Smith. Surviving with the widow are three sisters, Mrs. Madge Irwin of Attica; Mrs. Gladys Huestis of Youngstown, Ohio and Mrs. Ruth Duff of Los Angeles, Calif; a brother Lee of Mellott, several nieces and nephews and one nephew, Charles Kay of whom he was very fond. Funeral services were held Sunday, May 11 at 4 p.m. from the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home at Covington. Interment was at Mt. Hope Cemetery. – kbz
