VEEEDERSBURG - Paul Miller, Veedersburg tavern owner was dead on arrival at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill following a one-car crash on W 2nd Street in Veedersburg Thursday morning. Miller is believed to have died of a heart attack rather than of injuries in the accident. The victim was headed west on the road when he struck a tree, ruptured the gas tank in the late model car. Gas was strewn over the road and the fire department was called to the scene to wash it down. Miller was immediately taken to Danville where he was pronounced dead. The accident occurred in front of the Robert Burgner resident. Investigating was Veedersburg Chief of Police, Robert Maddaus. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Sunday at Sever Mortuary, Veedersburg. His death was attributed to cardiac failure. He had been in ill health approximately four years. He was born Feb 8, 1905 at Ladoga, the son of William D. and Sub Miller. He married Alma Goodson at Terre Haute June 8, 1945. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Sue Ann Jumps of Glendale, Ariz and two grandsons, Ronald and Steven Jumps, also of Glendale. He was a member of the Covington Christian Church. Rev. Alfred Dobbs officiated at services and burial. Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. - jz
