ATTICA, Ind. (CNS)—Joseph N. Miller, 86, of 1104 S. McDonald, Attica, died at 6:20 a.m. today ( Feb. 29, 1968) at the Williamsport Community Hospital where he had been a patient one day. He was born Sept. 2, 1881 at Lebanon, the son of Abraham and Sarah Mullen Miller. He was married in 1909 to Vera Wagner, who survives. His early life was spent in New Castle, Pa., and he came to Covington in 1906 to become associated with the Fountain Phone Co. In 1930 he moved to Attica to become district manager of the United Telephone Co. and retired in 1951. He was a member of the Independent Telephone Pioneers Assn., the Knights of Pythias, Covington Lodge 36, and the Covington Masonic Lodge 60. He served as mayor of Covington from 1926 to 1930. Survivors include the widow, at home; two sons, George of Attica and Joseph of Warsaw; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Roemer Funeral Home in Attica. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in St. Hope Cemetery, Covington.   --typed by Walt W

ATTICA - Joseph N. Miller, age 86, of 1104 S. McDonald St., Attica, a former mayor of Covington, died at 6:20 a m. Thursday, Feb. 29, at the Community Hospital in Williamsport where he had been a patient one day.
He was born Sept. 2, 1881 at Lebanon, the son of Abraham and Sarah Mullen Miller.  He was married in 1909 to Vera Wagner, who survives.  His early life was spent in New Castle, Pa., and he came to Covington in 1906 to become associated with the Fountain Telephone Co.  In 1930 he moved to Attica to become district manager of the United Telephone Co. and he retired in 1951
Mr. Miller was a member of the Independent Telephone Pioneers Ass'n., the Knights of Pythias Tidal Lodge 36 of Covington, and Covington Masonic Lodge 60, F & AM.  He served as mayor of Covington from 1926 to 1930.
Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: two sons, George of Attica and Joseph of Warsaw, and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Roemer Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Ashley officiating.
Mrs. Jeffrey Walter rendered appropriate musical selections at the organ.
Pallbearers were: Russell Blickenstaff, Bob Wellheuser, Joe Miller, Irvin Manssen, Ralph Epperson, and Greg Dupont.
Interment followed at the family lot in Mt. Hope Cemetery with Roemer Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements. - jz
