Gene Dale Miller of Veedersburg died at 5:34 a.m. Wednesday in St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital. He was 83. Mr. Miller was raised in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro HS in 1945. He has resided in Veedersburg for the past 53 years. He formerly drove a truck and worked on the farm for Byron Hesler. He later worked at Alcoa in Lafayette in the tool and dye division for 44 years, retiring in 1992. He was a veteran of the Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Sterling Christian Church in Veedersburg; a 58-year member of the American Legion Post 288 at Veedersburg and Alcoa 25 year club. He was born Sept 28, 1927 at Hillsboro to Paul and Myrtle (Melvin) Miller. He married Maxine Seymour on June 27, 1947 at Attica. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Donna J (Stan) Butler of Veedersburg and Norma J. (Hugh) Harrigan of Indianapolis; a sister, LaVera Everett of Crawfordsville; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Don Miller and a great granddaughter, Alexia Clark. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday in Maus Funeral Home at Hillsboro with Pastor Greg McDonald officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
