Hillsboro - Mrs. Leonard O. Mettee, 90, died Saturday (April 3) at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Vivian Hankins, near Veedersburg. Mrs. Mettee was a member of the Mellott United Church of Christ. She attended the Mellott Elementary School. Mrs. Mettee was born August 10 1880 near Mellott, the daughter of Sampson and Rachel Furr Strader. She was married in February of 1900 to Samuel Mettee who preceded her in death April 3, 1963. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Hankins, Mrs. Inez Shirley of Veedersburg, Mrs. Catherine Allen of Perrysville, Mrs. Lois Richardson of Kingman and Mrs. Esther Biddle of Covington; two sons, Harold of Rt 3 Veedersburg and Raymond of Mooresville. Mrs. Mettee is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Okie LaBaw of Danville, Illinois; 24 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m Tuesday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home of Hillsboro with Rev. Bud Stidham officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Christian Union Cemetery in Newtown.
