Word has been received here of the death of a former Hillsboro resident, Andrew William Messmore, 68, retired mail clerk who died suddenly at Ft. Myers, Fla. Monday of a heart attack. He had gone to Florida several weeks ago to spend the winter months as had been his custom for several years. For the past 8 years he has resided in Crawfordsville. He was the son of Wilson and Sidney Jane Kellogg Messmore and was born on a farm west of Mellott. He was married to Daisy Nine of Hillsboro who preceded him in death 11 years. He spent his early life in Hillsboro and Mellott, having taught school in both places. He later moved to Toledo, Ohio where he was a mai clerk for 30 years. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He is survived by four children, Farrell Messmore of Toledo, Ohio; Chester Messmore of Scranton, PA; George W. Messmore of Toledo and Mrs. Oveta Dueringer also of Toledo; six grandchildren; one brother, Daniel Messmore of near Mellott and a sister, Mrs. M.E. Lust of Harrison, Ark. The body was sent to Toledo, Ohio for funeral and burial services - ---- -

Andrew William Messmore, 68 years old died suddenly of a heart attack Monday at Fort Myers, Florida where he had gone to spend the winter.  He was a former resident of Mellott, Hillsboro and Crawfordsville.  Mr. Messmore was born two miles west of Mellott, where he was reared to manhood, his parents having been Wilson and Sidney Jane Kellogg Messmore who in their later life resided in Attica in the house now occupied by Charles Pritscher and family.  He was married to Daisy Nye of Hillsboro, who died 11 years ago.  He taught school at Hillsboro and Mellott prior to becoming a railway mail clerk and moving to Toledo, Ohio.  He retired after 30 years of service.  He was a member of the Methodist Church at Crawfordsville, where he had resided 8 years.  He is survived by three sons: Farrell and George W both of Toledo and Chester of Strattanville, PA and one daughter, Mrs. Oveta Dureinger of Toledo.  Dan Messmore who resided in Attica until about a month ago when he moved back to his farm near Mellott is a brother and Mrs. ME Rust of Harrison, Ark is a sister. The body will be taken to Toledi, Ohio for burial though no arrangements have been made as to the time of the funeral – marked Dec 1943.
