George Matthew Messick, 80 of Covington died at 5;51 a.m. Monday Sept 28, 1992 at USMC, Logan Campus. He was born Dec 29, 1911 in Rossville, Ill to Guy and Nellie Cade Messick. He married Deana Viola Morlan Aug 20, 1934 in Covington. She survives. He is also survived by 3 daughters, Carolyn Kaptain of Indianapolis , Nellie Winningham of Gig Harbor, Wash and Martha Summers of Covington; 3 sons, Gary Dean and Arnold of Rural Veedersburg and Darrin Cronkhite of Indianapolis. Also surviving a brother, Robert Messick of Kokomo; 3 sisters, Helen Johnson of Rankin, Ill; Joanne Sly of Decatur, Ill and Leona Davis of Hoopeston, Ill; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He retired from Harrison Steel in Attica 1974 after working there 35 years. He was a courier for the Fountain Trust Company and BWI the past 7 years. He was an avid race fan and enjoyed sport and reading. He attended Benson Chapel UMC where he was a member of the Reach Out Class and Warren County UM Men's group. Visitation was Tuesday at Shelby Funeral Home in Covington; service Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Stephen Beach officiating; interment at Mt. Hope.  -- thanks Dellie & Mariah for this one
