VEEDERSBURG — Arnold L. Messick,
68, Veedersburg, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2007 in Provena United Samaritan Medical
Center, Danville, Ill. He was born March 4, 1939 in West Lebanon, the son of
George and Deana (Morlan) Messick. He married Bonnie C. Mycroft June 12, 1958
at her parent's home in Covington. She survives. He served his country in the
U. S. Navy after graduating from Covington High School in 1957. He then worked
at Olin/Flexel for 38 years and later at Mervis until retirement. The two great
loves of his life were his family and his Beagles. He raised and hunted with
his Beagles for over 40 years and greatly enjoyed the outdoors. Survivors,
besides the wife, include: two daughters, Toni (Randy) Ponder, Veedersburg and
Kelly (Eric) Keeling, Tangier; a son, Bob (Lisa) Messick, Covington; four
grandchildren, Natalie Ponder, Zack Messick, David Messick, and Mariah Messick;
three sisters, Nellie Winningham, Nevada, Martha Summers, Covington, and
Carolyn (Arnold) Kaptain, Greenwood; and a brother, Gary Dean (Darlene)
Messick, Veedersburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and a
brother-in-law. Funeral services were at 8 p.m. Thursday in Dickerson Funeral
Home, Veedersburg, with Pastor Robert Fairchild officiating. Private family
gravesite services will be in Coal Creek Cemetery at a later date. – jlr
