Covington - Ross James Merryman, 75, Covington died at 8:25 a.m. Sat, Jan 30, 1999 in Provena USMC Logan Campus, Danville, Ill. Born Sept 25, 1923 in Danville, Ill, he was the son of Ross E. and Lavone M. Wiese Merryman. He never married. He was a self-employed store owner in Covington of Merryman Pool Hall for many years. Earlier, he was employed in the shipping department of a former jacket company in Danville. He was a 1942 graduate of Covington HS and enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Survivors include: sister, Mildred Grubbs, Covington and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Virginia Tuggle and Margaret Ricketts. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington with Rev. Robert Miller officiating. DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home, Cayuga was in charge of arrangements.
