Cates - LeRoy Snoddy Merryman, 50, died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday at his home about one-half mile east of here. He had been in failing health the past month. Mr. Merryman, a life-long resident of this area, farmed and the past two years had been employed by the state highway department. He was a member of Cates Nazarene Church and Cates Camp of Modern Woodmen Lodge. He was born Dec 24, 1912, in Fountain County a son of Ben F and Mary Snoddy Merryman. He was married Dec 23, 1939 to Anna L. Crowder. Survivors include his wife; his parents, who resided on Rt 2, Kingman; two sons, Samuel M of Perrysville and Roy L. at home; a daughter, Mrs. Jane Young of Indianapolis; two brothers, Rudolph of Rt 1, Hillsboro and Harold Leon of Veedersburg; a sister, Mrs. Martha Staggs of Rt 2, Kingman and a granddaughter. The body was taken to the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home at Covington where friends may pay their respects after 7 p.m. Monday. Funeral services are announced for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Lela Watson and Rev. Robert Thorpe officiaitng. Burial Mt. Hope, Covington.

LeRoy Snoddy Merryman, age 50, well-known Fulton Township farmer, died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, at his home on Klngman Rt. 1. He had been in ill health the past month.
Mr. Merryman was born in Covington Dec. 24, 1912, the son of Ben E. and Mary Snoddy Merryman. He was married Dec. 23, 1939 to Anna L. Crowder, who survives. He was a member of the Cates Nazarene Church and the Modern Woodmen, Cates Camp. He was a life resident of Fulton TWP., and a farmer. For the past two years he had been employed
with the State Highway Dept.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are: three children, Samuel Milton Merryman of Perrysville, Mrs. Jane Estal Young of Indianapolis, and Roy Lee Merryman, at home; one granddaughter, Carol Jane Young; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben E. Merryman of Kingman Rt. 2; two brothers, Rudolph of Hillsboro Rt. 1 and Harold Leon of Veedersburg and one sister, Mrs. Ray (Martha) Staggs of Kingman Rt. 2.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here. The Rev. Lela Watson and the Rev. Robert Tharp officiated. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Fred, Mike, Russell, Rex, Earl, Harold and Sam Crowder and Charles Clawson. - jz
