VEEDERSBURG—Harry “Cobb” Merrill Jr. 46, died suddenly Saturday after becoming ill at home. Mr. Merrill had been an agent for Prudential Insurance Company for 23 years and also operated Cobb’s Antique Shop. He was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Veedersburg to Harry and Lena Dawson Merrill. On Sept. 14, 1946, he married Ruth Hazlett in Veedersburg. A life resident of Veedersburg, he was a member of United Methodist Church, Charles Forrest Post 288 American Legion, Veedersburg Masonic Lodge and Low 12 of Wallace. Surviving are his widow, his father, two sons, Rick and Tom at home; stepmother, Vida of Veedersburg; two brothers, George and Ted, both of Veedersburg; and a sister, Mrs. Katheryn Cushman of Veedersburg; a step brother, Delmar Schuler of California; two aunts and several nieces and nephews. Services were conducted by Rev. Vernon Soder Monday in Parnham Funeral Home. Military graveside rites were conducted in Bonebrake Cemetery.
