Arlie D. Merrill, 421 Maple St., passed away at the Robert Long Hospital, Indianapolis, Saturday morning at 1 a.m. He had been a patient in the hospital since Monday. Mr. Merrill, son of Howard and Jessie Warrick Merrill, was born in Attica, Ind. May 7, 1928. He was married to Susan Leath June 27, 1953 in Attica. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was employed as press operator at Brown Rubber Company, Lafayette and retired in March, 1960 because of ill health. Surviving with his wife are his mother, Mrs. Howard Merrill of Veedersburg; 3 daughters at home, Nicola Sue, Tina Marie and Reatha Arlene, two brothers, Verl Merrill of Cedar Lake, Ind. and Donald Merrill of Danville, Ill., 3 sisters, Rosemon Mahoney of Calumet City, Ill., Mrs. William Divine and Mrs. James Brooks, both of Attica. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Attica, the V. F. W. and the Eagles of Attica and the American Legion of Veedersburg. Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Methodist Church with Rev. Louis Haskell officiating. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery with R. A. DeSutter in charge of arrangements.   --typed by Walt W

Arlie Merrill, whose mother Mrs. Howard Merrill, lives on Veedersburg Route 3, died at the Robert Long Hospital, Indianapolis, Saturday morning, Feb. 6, at 1 a.m. where he had been a patient since the preceding Monday.
Mr. Merrill, son of Howard and Jessie Warrick Merrill, was born in Attica, May 7, 1928.  He was married to Susan Leath June 27, 1953, in Attica.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.  He was employed as press operator at Brown Rubber Company, Lafayette and retired in March 1960 because of ill health.
Surviving besides his mother are his wife and three daughters at home, Nicola Sue, Tina Marie and Reatha Arlene, two brothers, Verl Merrill of Cedar Lake, Ind., and Donald Merrill of Danville, 3 sisters, Rosemon Mahoney of Calumet City, Ill., Mrs. William Divine and Mrs. James Brooks, both of Attica.  He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Attica, the VFW and the Eagles of Attica and the American Legion of Veedersburg.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist Church with Rev. Louis Haskell officiating.  Interment
was in Riverside Cemetery with R. A. DeSutter in charge of arrangements.
George, Harry Jr., and Ted Merrill and other Veedersburg relatives and friends, attended the service.  The decedent's late father, Howard Dewey Merrill, was best known as Dewey and was an engineer on the former Chicago, Attica and Southern railway.
