Mrs. Cora Mae Menefee, age 86, of Covington, died at 8:10 a.m Friday Aug. 19, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill., where she had been a patient since July 10.
Mrs. Menefee was born Oct. 19, 1879 in Newburg, Canada, the daughter of William Mortimer and Jennette Wynn Wellington. She was married to John W. Menefee Nov. 24, 1898, and he preceded her in death Dec. 12, 1951. Mrs. Menefee had lived in Covington for the past 12 years. Prior to that she lived in Chicago. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Perrysville and the Woman's Relief Corps of Palatine, Ill.
She is survived by: five daughters, Mrs. William Rodgers of Fort Myers, Fla., Mrs. Mabel Notter of Danville, Ill., Mrs. Edith Yates of Des Plaines, Ill., Mrs. Beatrice Carro of Lake Como, Wis., and Mrs. Priscilla Godemann of Morton Grove, Ill.; 15 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. The Rev. Harold Fogle and the Rev. Mr. Farris officiated. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington.
