MENDENHALL, Sy - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Sy Mendenhall of Sidell, Illinois, age 96, died Wednesday evening, July 6, in Covington Manor Nursing Home. He was born in Cold Water, Kansas, September 30, 1886, the son of Milton and Emily Patterson Mendenhall. October 19, 1909, he married Grace Bennett, who died in 1977. He was a retired farmer and had been custodian at the Sidell State Bank for 30 years.

  Survivors include a daughter, Pauline France of Covington; a son, Sy Elton of Oil Trough, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

  Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Honnold and Son Funeral Home in Sidell with Rev. Dick Garabrant officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery at Indianola, Illinois. – thanks so much to S
