COVINGTON -- Mrs. Tessie A. Melvin, 68, mother of Ward E. Melvin of Crawfordsville, died July 9 at 10 p.m. in her Covington home of a heart ailment. She had been ill for several months. Mrs. Melvin was born July 26, 1889, in Wichita, Kan., the daughter of Herman anal Atelia Martin. She was married Feb. 14, 1908, to Ernest S. Melvin in Kansas. He is deceased. She is survived by the son; two daughters, Mrs. Max E. Nigh of Eau Claire, Wis., and Mrs. James G. Groendyke of Laporte, Ind.; three brothers, Joe, Clarence, and Ward Martin of Dieghton, Kan.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Alamo Christian Church, with burial at the Alamo Cemetery. Rev. Carothers will be the officiating minister. Friends may call at the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The body will lie in state at the church one hour preceding the rites. --typed by Walt W
