John H. Mellott, 52, a Veedersburg area farmer most of his life, died Friday, April 16, 1971, in Carle Clinic at Urbana, Ill. He had been ill for a year. Mr. Mellott was a member of the Methodist Church at Veedersburg, Masonic Lodge, American Legion and the Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite. He served with the US army during World War II. He resided on Route Three of Veedersburg. He was born in the Campbell's Chapel area June 24, 1918, a son of Guy and Eldda Campbell Mellott. He was married Dec. 22, 1962, to Midred Larew Horrocks. Surviving are his father, the widow; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Max (Nancy) Tinkle of Waynetown, Mrs. Jerrry (Joan) Underwood of Lafayette, Mrs. Sidney (Carole) Faulkner of Kokomo, and Mrs. Michael (Mitzi) of Miami, Fla., a sister, Mrs. Harry (Wreatha) Linn of Rt. 3, Veedersburg, and nine grandchildren. Two brothers and his mother preceded him in death. Funeral services Monday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. John Servies officiating and burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.   -- jlr

Veedersburg - John Harold Mellott, 52, a Veedersburg area farmer most of his life, died at 1:30 a.m. Friday in Carle Clinic at Urbana, Ill.  He had been ill one years.  Mr. Mellott was a member of the United Methodist Church at Veedersburg, Masonic Lodge, American Legion and the Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite.  He served with the US Army during WWII.

He resided on Rt 3, Veedersburg.

He was born in the Campbell's Chapel area June 24, 1918, a son of Guy and Elda Campbell Mellott.  He was married Dec 22, 1962 to Mildred Larew Horrocks.  Surviving are his father; the widow; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Max (Nancy) Trinkle of Waynetown, Mrs. Jerry (Joan) Underwood of Lafayette; Mrs. Sidney (Carole) Faulkner of Kokomo and Mrs. Michael (Mitzi) Hinton of Miami, Florida; a sister, Mrs. Harry (Wreatha) Linn of Rt 3, Veedersburg and nine grandchildren.  Two brothers and his mother preceded him in death.  Arrangements are incomplete at Crumley-Williams Funeral Home at Hillsboro. - kbz
