Guy Mellott, 93, of Rt. 3, Veedersburg, a retired farmer, died Tuesday, March 22, 1977, in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville, where he had been a patient for the past 10 days. He was a member of Christian Union Church and had attended Richland Township schools. Born April 21, 1883, in Richland Township, Fountain County, he was a son of William and Sarah Murdock Mellott. He was married April 28, 1906, to Elda Campbell. She died in 1967. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Wreatha) Linn of Veedersburg; two sisters, Mrs. Edith McKnight of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Daisy Benson of Menlo Park, Calif.; and two grandsons. Services will be at 2 p.m. Fri. in Crumley-Williams Funeral Home at Hillsboro with Mr. Mellott's grandson, Robert Linn of Norman, Okla., officiating. Burial will be in Camphell's Chapel Cemetery near Hillsboro. -- jlr

Mellott – Guy Mellott, a life long resident of this area will be honored at the annual “American Flag Appreciated Day” celebration held in Mellott, Flagtown USA June 9 and 10, according to a report given at the planning meeting held at the Mellott Town Hall. Mellott, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday is the oldest direct descendent of John B. Mellott for whom the town of Mellott was named. JB Mellott served as the first postmaster of the town in 1882. Guy Mellott is a nephew of JB Mellott and will be recognized on the patriotic program, following the parade on Sunday afternoon June 10. --kbz

Veedersburg – Guy Mellott, 93, a retired farmer died Tuesday evening in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. Born in Richland Twp, Fountain County, he attended Richland Township schools. He was married in 1906 to Elda Campbell who died in 1967. Mr. Mellott was a member of the Christian Union Church near Newtown and resided at Rt 3, Veedersburg. Surviving are one daughter, Mary Wretha Linn, Rt 3, Veedersburg; and two sisters, Mrs. Edith McKnight, Indianapolis and Mrs. Daisy Benson, Menlo Park, Calif. --kbz
