Funeral services for Carl Alexander Mehaffey, age 79, a prominent attorney and farmer residing on Williamsport Rt.3, who died at 8 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Williamsport Methodist Church. The Rev. Clyde Beckner officiated. Burial, with the Crowmer and Siddens Funeral Home in Williamsport in charge, was in Highland Cemetery. Mr. Mehaffey, who died in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette, had been ill four years and a hospital patient five weeks. He was born June 23, 1886, in Jordan Twp., Warren County, the son of Edward and Nancy Lloyd Mehaffey. He was married June 8, 1918, to Edna Marie Haupt, who survives. He was a member of the Williamsport Methodist Church, a 32nd degree Mason, member of Jordan Masonic Lodge 612 at Hedrick and Murat Temple at Indianapolis. He was a graduate of the Indiana University School of Law in 1911. He was the original director of REMC in Warren County and served as the attorney since 1938 when REMC was incorporated. Mr. Mehaffey was a veteran of World War I, serving as a major in the Air Force. He served as county prosecutor from 1911 to 1918 for Warren and Benton counties. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are; one daughter, Mrs. Wilma Jean Lang of Williamsport Rt. 3; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Davis of Lafayette and Mrs. Golda Stettler of Wingate; one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.   --typed by Walt W
