MEEKER, Orville - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Orville Meeker of Frankfort, age 97, died September 13, in Clinton County Hospital at Frankfort. He was born in Shawnee Township, Fountain County, August 13, 1885, the son of Theodore and Julia McKnight Meeker. In 1905, he married Barkie Galloway, who died in 1876. Meeker was a member of Antioch United Church of Christ.

His grandfather, Usual Meeker, had settled near Newtown in 1836 and established stockyards near Rob Roy west of Newtown in 1856. Meeker and his family moved to Clinton County in 1934.  Survivors include a daughter, Martha Belle Hickman of Frankfort; a son, Gerald of Harbor Springs, Michigan; four grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.  Funeral services were held Friday morning in Goodwin Chapel in Frankfort and burial was in Union Cemetery, Friday afternoon. – thanks so much to “S”
