MEARS, Russell - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

VEEDERSBURG — Russell Mears, 87, died at 3:17 p.m. Friday, July 16, 1999, in St. Vincents Williamsport Hospital. Born June 8, 1912, in Veedersburg, he was the son of Lee and Edna Oblinger Mears. His first marriage was to Leona Kennedy. She preceded in death in 1945. His second marriage was to Laveta Newnum. She preceded in death in 1988. He was a truck driver during his working years having driven for the Hering Oil Company. He had also been employed at the Veedersburg brickyards. Survivors include: a daughter, Mildred (Paul) Pycke, Attica; a great-grandchild; and a great-great-grandson. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, four brothers, and a grandson. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday in Dickerson Funeral Home, Veederburg, with the Rev. Edwin Retter officiating. Burial was in West Lebanon Cemetery. – jlr
