Ray S. Mears of Veedersburg, age 58, died Wednesday morning, September 9, of a heart attack, according to Halsey Williams, deputy coroner. He was found about noon in his car at a car wash in Veedersburg. Mears was born in Veedersburg, May 18, 1923, the son of Lee and Edna Shoaf Mears. May 18, 1946, he married Marjorie M. Dismore, who survives. He was a veteran of World War II and had retired from Fountain Foundry in Veedersburg.
Also surviving are two sons, Jack R. of RR 1, Hillsboro, and Jeffrey Alan of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; two sisters, Marjorie Thomas and Louise Robbins, both of Veedersburg; a brother, Russell of Veedersburg; and a grandson, Jason Mears. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Rev. William Dittmer officiating. Burial was in Rockfield Cemetery at Veedersburg. – s –
