VEEDERSBURG — John Lee Mears, 66, a lifelong resident of Veedersburg, died Thursday morning in St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Danville, Ill., where he had been a patient since Feb. 10. He had been in failing health the past year. Born Nov. 4, 1891, Mr. Mears was the son of Charles and Mary Stonebraker Mears. He married Edna Shoaf. Mr, Mears was a maintenance employe of the Nickle Plate Railroad several years. He retired a year ago because of failing health. Survivors include two sons, Russell Mears of Veedersburg and Ray Mears of Clermont; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Robbins and Mrs. Marjorie Thomas, both of Veedersburg; and three sisters, Mrs. Nina Workinger of Attica: Mrs. Onda Drollinger and Mrs. Dorothy Foxworthy, both of Veedersburg. The body was taken to the Fishero Funeral Home. Arrangements for the services are incomplete.   --typed by Walt W

VEEDERSBURG — Funeral arrangements have been made for John Lee Mears of Veedersburg who died Thursday morning at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill. The services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Fishero Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Rev E. V. Wamsley officiating. Burial will be in the Rockfield Cemetery.  --typed by Walt W

John Lee Mears was born Nov 4, 1891 near Alamo, Indiana. He was the son of Charles and Mary Stonebraker Mears.  He was married to Edna Shoaf and to this union 7 children were born. Mr. Mears spent practically his entire life in the Veedersburg vicinity.  He was a maintenance employee of the Nickle Plate Railroad several years and about a year ago, returned because of failing health.  Mr. Mears entered St. Elizabeth Hospital on Feb 9 and passed away Feb 13 at 9:30 a.m.  Survivors include two sons, Russell Mears of Veedersburg and three sisters: Mrs. Nina Workinger of Attica, Mrs. Dorothy Foxworthy and Mrs. Onda Drollinger of Veedersburg.  Three sons and 8 brothers and sisters preceded him in death.  Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Feb 16, 1958 from the Fishero Funeral Home with burial in Rockfield Cemetery. – kbz
