Lafayette—Mary Ruth Gross Mead, 73, 2528 Foxhall Drive, Lafayette, died at 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 1989, in Heritage Healthcare Center. She had been in ill health since 1984 and a patient at the center since May.
She was born Aug. 28, 1915, in Parke County and lived in Lafayette most of her life. She was married Jan. 4, 1945, in Lafayette, to Samuel L. Mead, who preceded her in death March 25, 1958.
She had worked at Crown Laundry for 25 years, when she retired in 1984.
She was a member of Lambda Tau Delta Sorority and Rebekah Lodge 292 in Lafayette.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Clayton (Judith) Stewart, Battle Ground, and Mrs. Thomas (Sandra) Malitz, Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. John (Alice) Ray, Attica, and Mrs. Lois Grond, Bellflower, Calif.; a brother, Lee Gross, Rockville; four grandchildren, Mark Malitz, Cleveland, Ohio, and Scott, Stacy and Bill Stewart, all of Battle Ground; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Thursday in Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel with Chaplain Virginia Nead officiating. Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
Lambda Tau Delta service was at 5 p.m. and Rebekah Lodge 292 rites at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday.
