VEEDERSBURG — Waldron H. Mayfield, 91, Veedersburg, died at 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 20, 1999, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital, Danville, Ill. Born July 20, 1908, in Danville, Ill., he was the son of Daniel and Minnie Schlief Mayfield. He married Mary A. Pellman May 13, 1951, in Danville, Ill., who survives. He served in D-Day Normandy, France, as a member of the 101st Airborne Division of the U. S. Army in WW II. He was the recipient of the purple heart and the oak leaf cluster. He was employed for 30 years at the Grab-it-Here stores and the IGA as a meat department manager. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Veedersburg, and the VFW Post 2395 of Covington. Survivors, other than his wife, include: son, Michael (Bonnie) Mayfield, Covington; daughters, Kendall Coffing and Diana (Joe) Nine, both of Veedersburg, and Mary E. (Gordon) Ingalsbe, Crawfordsville; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were 1 p.m. Monday at the First Christian Church with Rev. Rusty Albertson officiating. Burial was at Sunset Cemetery in Danville, Ill. Arrangements were made by Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. – jlr
