COVINGTON - Charles Mayer, 71, of Kinmundy, Ill., a former resident of Covington, died Monday in Good Samaritan Hospital at Mt. Vernon, Ill. Mr. Mayer was a member of Masonic Lodge here. He was born Jan. 16, 1905, a son of Michael and Margaret Laughlin Mayer. Surviving are his wife, Constance; a brother, Michael Mayer of Catlin, Ill.; and a sister, Mrs. Fletcher Kerr of Newtown. Services were at Kinmundy. - jlr

Charles Mayer, 71, of Kinmundy, Ill., a former area resident, died Dec. 27, 1976, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Ill.
Born Jan. 16, 1905, in Covington, he was the son of Michael and Margaret Laughlin Mayer. He was a graduate of Covington High and member of the Covington Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Constance, a native of England; a brother, Michael of Catlin, Ill.; and a sister, Mrs. Fletcher (Margaret) Kerr of Newtown.
