HILLSBORO -- Lawrence Maudlin, 88, retired Hillsboro farmer and trucker, died Wednesday afternoon in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville, He had been seriously ill one month. A 58-year resident of Hillsboro, he was a 50-year member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge at Veedersburg. He also was a member of the Fountain County Farm Bureau. Born July 5, 1883, near Georgetown, Ill., he was a son of Henry and Anne Ramey Maudlin. He attended Elwood School at Georgetown. On Jan. 2, 1908, he was married to Myrtle Waggaman. They were married at Georgetown. Mrs. Maudlin died Feb. 17, 1968. Surviving are two sons, Roy H. of Medford, Ore., and Herschell A. of Hillsboro; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Brown of Hillsboro; two brothers, Allen and Charles of Georgetown; eight grandchildren, a step-grandson, and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son and a sister. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Crumley-William Funeral Home here. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. --typed by Walt W
