Attica - Wendall Lee Mattingly, 72, 921 Mound St, Attica, died in his residence at 5:18 p.m. March 15, 1996. He had been in ill health since October 1995. He was born in Attica Nov 22, 1923, the son of Charles Joseph and Maude Irene Fenters Mattingly. He was a life resident of Attica and had been attending the Attica Adult Learning Center. He had formerly worked at the bowling alley of Harrison Steel Castings Co, Attica. He helped build the old Attica HS. During the summers he would mow yards. He was a member of the Attica First Lutheran Church. He formerly had a wood working shop in his basement that he enjoyed working in. Surviving are a sister, Dorothy Daughtry, St. Thomas Virgin Islands and several nephews and nieces including local nephews, Steve, Gary, Terry and Charles Mattingly. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today Tuesday in Attica First Lutheran Church with Rev. Karl Korbel officiating.
