WEST LEBANON - Mrs. Anna A. Mathis, age 84, of Collison, Ill., Rt. 1, a resident of Pence most of her life, died Wednesday, July 31, at the Nance Nursing Home in Danville. She had been a patient there about a year.
Mrs. Mathis was born Oct. 28, 1883, in Switzerland County, the daughter of Samuel and Louisa Jakaway Smith. She was married in 1906 at Williamsport, to Charles A. Mathis, who died. She had moved to Collison four years ago to make her home with a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Bussard. She was a member of the West Lebanon Christian Church..
Survivors include: two sons, Samuel of Galveston and Winfield of Bicknell; three daughters, Mrs. Bussard, Mrs.Rena Lester of Mishawaka and Mrs. Eva Kaniewski of Boswell; two brothers, George Smith of Edon, Ohio, and William Smith of Bennington; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Shatell of West Lebanon, Mrs. Lucy McGlothan of Hoopeston, Ill., and Mrs. Emma McDonald
of Alvin, Ill., 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Crowmer & Siddens Funeral Home in West Lebanon. The Rev. Kenneth Littleford officiated and burial was in the West Lebanon Cemetery. - jz
