Source: The obituary is from a collection by Fauniel Hershberger, saved the 1950's, 60's and 70's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

Note: This is probably from the Danville IL newspaper as that one almost always had Ind after the name of the town whereas the newspapers of Indiana that covered that time frame did not

Cayuga, Ind- Lonnie Mathes, 92, formerly of Cayuga died Friday Feb 16, 1973 at Mercy Hospital in Miami, Fla. He had been in failing health for some time. He was born August 23, 1880, the son of Martin and Clara Vanscoyoc Mathes in Alamo. He lived most of his life in Cayuga. Surviving are two sons, Charles of Terre Haute and Luther of Danville, Ill; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Glen Richards of Terre Haute and Mrs. Walter McClure of Naples, Fla; a stepson, Lee Slaughter of Frankfort, Ind; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Arrangements are pending at the Watson Funeral Home in Cayuga.
