ALONZO, son of  CHARLES AND CHARLOTTE MASSEY,  was born in Montgomery county Sept. 26 1837 and departed this life May 26 1908 aged 70 years and 8 months.   He was married to Martha G. Helton Nov 7 1861, to this union were born seven children, five boys and two girls,  one boy and one girl having preceeded him to the Great Beyond.   Four were present at the funeral.  One son living in Louisiana was unable to be present.   He leaves a loving wife, five children, on brother, Jerremiah of Missouri and a host of friends to mourn his great loss.  Deceased came from Montgomery county to Fountain county when quite young and has spent almost his entire life on the little farm 4 ½ miles southeast of Kingman.   He made one trip  with an oxteam to Missouri and one trip to Ohio during his life, spending about six months in the former and about one year in the latter state. Funeral services were conducted from the residence Thursday at 9:30 by Rev. A. H. Raridan of Harveysburg.  At ten o’clock a song service was had at Centenniel and the corpse was viewed afterwhich burial was made in the cemetery at Centennial. Prior to his illness he had talked with Mrs. Babb, who was keeping house for them, and stated that he would not live long and asked them not to call a physician when he did get sick as his life’s battle had been fought and he was ready to go. -s-
