Frankfort – The Rev. Oscar Mason, 85, retired Methodist minister died in the health center of Wesley Manor Methodist Church Home at 5:45 a.m. Friday. He had been ill only a few days. The Rev. Mr. Mason was the father of the Rev. Carlyle L. Mason, superintendent of Wesley Manor and Wendell G. Mason, Lafayette businessman. Born in Howard County, he was a long-time minister in the Northwest Indiana Conference of the Methodist Church until his retirement in 1947. After his retirement he lived at Remington until becoming a resident of Wesley Manor in 1962. The Rev. Mr. Mason served a number of Methodist Churches until his retirement in 1947. Mason served a number of Methodist Churches, including Walton, Merom, Linden, New Richmond, Hillsboro, Rossville, Flackville and Bethel at Indianapolis, Kewanna, LaCrosse and Remington. He was married in 1900 to Edith Griffith who died in 1956. Surviving with the two sons are two daughters, Mrs. Garmen Rybolt of Kokomo and Mrs. Charles Biddle of Remington and two sisters, Mrs. Ernest polk and Mrs. Mary Brower both of Kokomo.

Mason, Rev. Oscar R. – Friends may call at Hartman Funeral Home, Frankfort after 2 p.m. Sunday. Services in Wesley Manor Chapel Frankfort at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Interment in North Union Cemetery in Howard County. 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren survive. Preceding Rev. Mason in death were three sons: Dwight; Dr. Virgil A. Mason of West Orange, NJ and Dr. Gerald Mason of Fort Wayne. -- kbz
